The controller serves a variety of niches. Primarily general experimental control. Secondarily the printer port interface version supports keyboard input and CRT output.

The experiment controller provides a simple mechanism for implementing procedures with digital or analog output. It is also capable of receiving digital or analog input and simply recording those inputs or using those inputs as feedback to the procedures.
